Free Breakfast Club Provision and Lunches
On the 15th July I wrote to you all with regards how we intend to run our Breakfast Club whilst we continue to return to a ‘new normal' during the ongoing pandemic. Our intentions are to increase provision to support our families by running two separate halls of breakfast club provision, rather than just one. This amendment will enable us to seat as many children as possible, socially distanced, in their year group bubbles.
In my last letter I indicated that the provision will begin again on Monday 14th September. However, we were informed last week that catering – including breakfast clubs and dinner time provision can only begin again once the Local Authority have undertaken their own Risk Assessments of these provisions.
This means that with regards to lunches, all children will initially need to bring a packed lunch to school with them. Free School Meals payments will continue to families, enabling families to prepare a packed lunch option too. Once catering assessments have been fully undertaken, hot meal provision and free school meal provision in school will begin again. The date has yet to be confirmed.
The Local Authority are aware that we would like to begin our Breakfast Club on 14th September, but as yet I have not had confirmation as to when they will be attending Llandaff City to undertake the necessary assessments. I am therefore writing now, in order to forewarn that we may / may not be able to open on the date we had originally given. I understand that this may concern those who need to plan in advance for work, and I will accordingly update you as soon as I hear.
In addition, I am also writing to ask that if you no longer require any of the free breakfast club provison that you have applied for please can you email Mr Johns at Simonjohns@llandaffprm.cardiff.sch.uk by 26th August 2020 to update him on days you no longer need. As stated in my last letter, provision will be allocated to families “on a first come first serve basis”. The process of allocating places will take place after 27th August. The School Office will then inform parents during the first week in September as to when provison will be starting and what provision we are able to provide you as a family until October half term. Where, if applicable, families do not get their preferred days, or if their circumstances change over the term, their names will be placed on a waiting list with places offered as and when they become available. We will review the allocation of Breakfast Club places, during September and October in order to determine how, if we are permitted to do so, will allocate places for November and December.
Wrap around care provision:
The Welsh Government and Local Authority are encouraging Wrap Around Care Providers to resume in order to support families with their return to work. Parents are encouraged to try and minimise the number of care providers they access in order to reduce the number of bubbles of children that their children mix with. Wrap Around Care Providers collecting from Llandaff City must work closely with myself in school in order to ensure we have a shared understanding. If parents are intending on using a Wrap Around Care Provider, I kindly ask parents to contact their provider in advance of the start of term and ask them to make contact with myself, Mrs James, via: Sgall@llandaffprm.cardiff.sch before the beginning of term. Each provider will be expected to complete some shared paperwork in advance of collecting children from school.
