Curriculum Design at Llandaff City

Llandaff City's Curriculum - The Big Ideas

At Llandaff City Church in Wales Primary School, our curriculum has been carefully designed to inspire, engage and challenge all learners. Rooted in the four purposes of Curriculum for Wales, it is built around a series of Big Ideas that provide meaningful connections across Areas of Learning and Experience, encouraging curiosity, creativity and a deeper understanding of the world around us.

Our curriculum has been developed collaboratively, drawing on research, professional learning and our understanding of the needs of our school community.

We recognise that curriculum design is an ongoing journey. Through regular reflection, evaluation, assessment and feedback, we review and refine our approach to ensure it remains relevant, ambitious and responsive to the changing needs of our learners.

The visual below illustrates how our curriculum is organised, highlighting the Big Ideas that shape learning and the key principles that underpin our approach. It provides an overview of how the different elements of our curriculum work together to create rich, purposeful and meaningful learning experiences.

Our aim is to provide an inclusive and ambitious curriculum that enables every child to flourish.
